Working in DWP
My first Agile role was in DWP as a Business Analyst. In this role I was on a project to replace the Universal Jobmatch website. I was involved in a large number of user research sessions.
Towards the end of my time in this role I consolidated my agile experience by attending the DWP ‘Digital Academy’, a two week course for civil servants.
I learnt a lot in this role and I have to say it was the start of my love for Agile. Coming into the team with only a limited knowledge of Agile project management I immediately thought ‘Why haven’t we always worked this way?’. Speaking to users to determine product development and direction is just so logical compared to producing a ‘Requirements Document’, as most of the time on waterfall projects the situation or requirements change so much the document doesn’t even reflect the final project so why bother?
